Enjoy a few of my favourite photos from the Festival season this summer!
I kicked off the 2015 summer at Sound City Festival in Liverpool, getting the chance to shoot some of my favourite bands at the minute. I headed over on the Friday to catch the lads from Polar States and the likes of Spector, Everything Everything and The Vaccines. Grabbed some shots with Justin from The Vaccines backstage, and headed up the sound tower when we got kicked out the pit. Sunday was the turn of Peace and The Cribs, both with stage access (anyone who knows my Sound City story will find this hilarious). Bad planning got us to The Cribs for the end of the third song, I shot 2 frames before having to leave the pit - so I went and shot from on stage. They were amazing, and Ryan didn't fail me - launching his guitar at the end of the set, giving me a chance at getting a really cool photo. Peace were mind blowing, it was the first time I got to catch them live and I'm so glad I did.
Massive shout to gig-photographer.com for sending my photo of Ryan over to Danny North and Andrew Whitton. I received an email off Danny asking if I'd like to intern with Fanatic at a festival over summer. I jumped at the chance, and headed off to shoot my first festival.
Time came for The Secret Garden Party, so I headed over to Doncaster to meet Sam and Andrew and we drove down to meet the rest of the team at the festival. Despite SGP being glorious weather the previous year, we were in for a wet one and both the wellies and waterproofs were packed. It pelted it down, and despite the waterproofs I was soaked to the bone. Towards the end of the weekend the mud got one over on me and I had quite a hilarious slip - luckily the cameras were fine though, and my jeans weren't that muddy. What an amazing weekend though. The team is made up of the best people possible, and they're all camera geniuses - it mental how much you can learn from spending a weekend around such genuinely talented people.
Best Team Photo Ever?
Next stop was Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire, where the weather was unbelievably good! It was such a lovely weekend, even though i felt so ill! It was such an unreal festival, everywhere you looked there was something new going on - even being there the full weekend wasn't enough to get to see everything! I mean what other festivals can you swim, go fly fishing, watch live music, do taxidermy and go horse riding?! I got to shoot Bjork from a cherry picker, eat food prepared by Raymond Blanc and watch Jonathan Ross walk over fire - sounds like a pretty good weekend to me! I also caught the 'festival tan' which is the t-shirt tan, and three inches round my ankles from my trainers to my jeans...
Last one was Jamie Oliver and Alex James' The Big Feastival, which is actually in Alex's back garden. By the title, and the fact it's set up by Jamie Oliver you can guess it's massive on it's food and cooking demo's. It was a very small site in comparison to the other two, which was nice as you were never to far away from where you were next scheduled. Artists to play over the weekend were the likes of Paloma Faith, Dizzee Rascal, Example, Ella Eyre, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Groove Armada. I also got to catch Hudson Taylor who I've wanted to see for a while. Over the weekend there were quite a few celebs that made an appearance; including the queen herself Kate Moss, Laura Whitmore, Professor Green, Caroline Flack and Amanda Holden.
